I really didn't mean to buy them, I was just going in to look at them.

I have no idea what I bought, I got 3 from one tub and 3 from the other. All the pullets were sold.
My girlfriend picked out 3 because they were yellow, told her in a few days that will change. LOL

I live in Rio Grande Valley of Texas, lows currently are 65-70, highs are 90+ everyday. I have them outside enclosed with food, water and a heat lamp. The 1st night I was scared they wouldn't make it because they would freeze to death but I think they actually got to hot. I have a 250 watt bulb so I will be buying a 100 watt in a few minutes.

Hopefully I won't end up with all Roos, will try to post pics in a few.

Hey! I see you bought the TSC chick starter kit. I bought two of those, even though I have way too many chick feeders. I did so because I love the little water and feeder, I use the little handles to hang them at beak level in the brooder box (tote). This helps keep out the shavings. I use a hook wired to a 2x4 board. The chicks are just the start, once you get eggs, you will know it was all worth it. Welcome to BYC, this is a great place to be. HenZ

The starter kit is what got me thinking "all I need is this kit and the chicks" LOL. I have only had them 2 days and you can already tell they are getting bigger. It's going to be interested in seeing what colors they will be. I thought about buying from the local flea market but figured chicks would be better cause they will grow up knowing me instead of buying some that don't.

I have been a lurker for a few months and been reading books about chickens.

Some of those little yellow chicks might be meat birds. You will notice them growing much quicker than the other birds...... don't get too attached to those.

I'm not gonna be happy if TSC sold me meat birds. I read all the labels they had hanging about each bird and none mentioned meat birds.

Too funny, first thing I thought was 'she has the starter kit'

I work at TSC, and they haven't been real popular in our store. Everyone wants what we use in the bins... Glad to see they work nicely! The meaties should have been marked as Cornish rocks, unless they didn't get their signs right. Hope you keep on enjoying your new babies!!

All the signs I read talked about what size egg they will lay. I didn't see anything saying meat birds. They all appear to be about the same size. I guess only time will tell.

They aren't popular in my store, either. I practically force them on people. But they do work wonders, I am tempted to get one just for the little feeder/waterer... >.>
