For 9 hens, you only need one cockerel/rooster, if you must have a rooster at all.

I don't have experience with JGs to give you an opinion on how he would do with standard sized fowl. I'm sure there's a jersey giant thread you might be able to post in that would offer better input for you. I think part of selecting the right cockerel has a lot to do with the breeds you choose to keep, their housing, and understanding the nuances that may come with a particular breed, especially with regard to the size of JGs.
