Picking a few breeds for our flock

We got RIR, Speckled Susex, and Silver Laced Wyandotte and they are all really nice. There are young kids that come and play with them and look after them (as young as 5) and they are all kind, it is very important to be very kind to the chicks when they are young and socialize them with people to help them develop into kind chickens. Often I will get the chickens on my shoulder or arm and they will sit there contentedley as I stroke their bellies. The most immportant thing to do is to educate young children, even if they are 8, 9, or 10 they need to be taught how to hold them (if they want to) and how to pet them (mine prefer if u don't pet their back, but like it when you tickle their stomach).
I get terrified when I see my little brother's friends grab them and so I often insist on holding them and letting the kid stroke the chicken.

I am a nervous chicken mama...

I love my barred rocks and partridge rock, very sweet, gentle birds, that will let you get close. Really don't care for my golden and silver laced wyandottes--super unfriendly, skittish, and are bullies even though I tried to handle them. They are very pretty though. My sweetest chicks and young roo are my salmon faverolle--they are babydolls, and my little roo is handsome although the girls are plainer.
