Picking up chicks in an hour!

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. Thanks for th pictures! They'll be peckiThere's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, just as an aside, you might consider putting down a doubled up tarp, putting the crate on top of that, and using wood (pine) shavings vice towels. First, the towels will hold the moisture and stink in short order, and the poop WILL stain them. :sick When the shavings get nasty, lift the crate off, carry the tarp and shavings outside to dump them, wash, rinse and repeat.

Hope you enjoy the site!

Topic/Question of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising Chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising People Friendly Poultry

If you would like to share more Pictures and Stories of your little ones, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes and good luck!

We're picking up three chicks in about an hour. We are also very nervous and excited first timers! I've been reading tips on this site for weeks to prepare. I'm so glad for this resource!
The only thing I suggest is using pine chips or the rubber grip mats that are used in kitchen cupboards. They need grip or they will get splayed legs. They need something besides newspaper to walk on.
Good luck with your babies! :)
