Picking up chicks on Thursday..

Hey gamomma, did you get your chicks yesterday? If so, what kind(s) did you get and how many? Post pics when you can.

Well the girls are in. They are mouthy :-) My dachsund loves them he wont leave there side. I think my husband and i might be allergic. Hes stuffed up and snotty and im itchy for a few hours after i handle them.

My son named the loudest Lulu (my son is loud mouth too :-) )
My Husband named his Anna (after anna nicole smith, he wants her to have big breasts)
And i named the smallest most timid one stella rose

Sorry it took me so long to reply. We are trying to settle in. I think we might all be allergic. Ive been keeping the girls in a back bedroom for now. Our doctor said it might be the dander and hopefully when the feathers come in we might have some relief. They are cute girls though. We got 3 Golden Buffs from GA Mad Hatcher. He was just the nicest guy. I very much enjoyed visiting his hatchery. Very nice to my son and his friend, answered all their ridicules questions.

If you want to you can wrap a light blanket or towel around the box to help keep in the warm air while they are in the floor boards. That way you won't have to run the heater quite so much which will help your suffocating from the heat. Keep check on the chicks every so often to make sure they are not too hot or too cold. If you have one of the HVAC thermometers that you can stick down in the box to tell you the temp without having to unwrap the whole box, that would be great.

I've heard of the GA Mad Hatcher. I heard they had good birds so good luck with your purchase.

Great birds, great people!! I reeally enjoyed the whole process with them!!!!

Glad you made it home safely with your new chicks. They are adorable! Sorry to hear of ya'lls allergy to the chick dander. If you have their coop ready and a way to run a heat lamp to it, you could go ahead and move them to their coop. That way you get the allergens out of your house. Its good to hear the guy at GA Mad Hatcher was nice too.
