I have some nasturtium plants that had a couple of leaves that were swarming with tiny black bugs (aphids?) so I snapped the leaves and gave them to my three buff orps (9 weeks) to gobble up the bugs. They took one sniff and walked away. What gives?

There are some bugs my chooks won't touch with a ten foot pole, ladybugs being one of them. Haven't seen them with aphids, so I'm not sure if that's on their "we no like" list or not.

I just found a zucchini plant crawling with squash bugs, so I yanked it out of the ground, went into the chicken coope, held it upside down and shook it in front of the chix. You would have thought they had just been invited to an ice cream social! Apparently squash bugs are OK.

been feeding my girls squash bugs too, I dont do pesticides on the food I grow for me and the wife so the chicks benefit. I gave them there first tomatoe today and my wife said they used more calories playing keep away then they could have gotten from them.
