**PICS**Broken egg with vent gleet

I have a Serama pullet that just started laying and noticed what looks like vent gleet. I've been treating her for the gleet with warm soapy baths, sterilized water injections in her vent. Also, she's on metronidazole for 2 days now. Today, it looks like there's a egg that is crushed in her vent, but can't really tell. I really need help with what I can do for her. Thank you for any help you can give.

Looks like she has suffered a prolapse and her vent has been injured, possibly from other birds picking at it.
Soaks in a warm epsom salts bath, then applying honey, triple antibiotic ointment or a sugardine solution would be good. Keep the tissue moist.
I would not inject any more sterile water inside the vent, you risk flushing bacteria into the oviduct.

Is she able to poop at all?

I stopped the sterile water when I thought she had an egg stuck, but I'm only giving her the warm bath. I don't think it was an egg now that more is cleared and cleaned. I wish it was a prolapsed, but it's not. I've lost about 5 hens from what ever this is around their vents. I thought it's vent gleet and if it's not, what is it!? If you've lost 5 to the same thing, then it's really time to have a necropsy to figure out what's going on. NC has 4 labs so hopefully this is something you can do.

The scabbing looks like it's from damage - maybe picking.
It would be good to take a look at your set-up, consider how they are housed, the source of your birds - did you hatch all of these that have problems, are they the same age, etc.
Feed.
Think about every aspect and see if there's something that may need to be adjusted in their environment, could it be genetic, etc.

If you've lost 5 to the same thing, then it's really time to have a necropsy to figure out what's going on. NC has 4 labs so hopefully this is something you can do.

Sorry took so long to get back and thank you for your response. It's mostly pullets around 6 months. All were hatched here and my custom coops are cleaned regularly. The only other thing I can think of since it did effect an older hen (she was the first to have this) and she was separate from my younger girls.,is the new scratch I bought right before they started showing signs. That's the only thing that was new to their diet or anything else. I don't use it anymore, but could that cause problems like this? Thank you in advance

Sorry took so long to get back and thank you for your response. It's mostly pullets around 6 months. All were hatched here and my custom coops are cleaned regularly. The only other thing I can think of since it did effect an older hen (she was the first to have this) and she was separate from my younger girls.,is the new scratch I bought right before they started showing signs. No, I don't think scratch would cause scabbing and a distended vent.
