ok ill cut it to ya strait i cant tell they are kinda on the fence at the moment one question how old are they???

but you need to look for these things
a loose vent not a very tight vent it should be very loose so you can kinda see into it and their combs will get bright red roo red to put it better that is when you know they are very close

But id say 3 and 4 are closer than the rest followed by 2 then 1 and 5 so that is my assesment

there combs and wattle will mature (turn brighter red) right before they start to lay, our barred rocks went from what yours look like in the combs and wattles to red and laying in a weeks time, just hang in there , youll be covered up in eggs befor you know it

I have 7 hens, three have loose vents.(I went and checked after i read this thread)

They are about 20 wks. It says they should start laying when they get loose vents, when? It says "soon". How soon?

Bring, if the vent is widened, see if there is also "discharge". If not, then you've got a few weeks. If so, then I'd say pretty darn soon.

Don't rush it!

Egg-laying will happen at some point in time!

One of them had discharge. It was gross, I thought it pooped on me but it didn't look like the usual stuff. Sorry, I know that's gross.

i checked mine and one(#2 in the pic) has a loose vent.
