Okay everyone.... the question is "SHOULD I QUIT NOW?" seeing that I had a 100% hatch rate I really can't do any better then that so I should just quit now with a perfect record!

I ordered 3 bantam barevelder fertile eggs from http://www.gabbardhatchingeggs.com and they arrived in wonderful packaging and she put an extra one in so I ended up with 4 eggs. Not doing much research I bought a little giant with forced air and automatic egg turner at the local feed store and decided to incubate eggs for the very first time!

I candeled them almost every day and they were all moving and growing and everything was great... the temp, although a very sensitive adjuster, stayed pretty constant between 99.1 and 100.9.... until day 16 when the breaker tripped during the night at some time and I came in the morning to find it at 70 degrees inside... I was very worried. On day 18 at lockdown all 4 were still moving.

day 21 came and went with nothing, then day 22 3 were hatched with day 24 (today) the last one hatching! As much as I wanted to help when I thought they were taking too long, with the help of everyone here I was patient and it turned out for the best.

After reading all the posts on here I consider myself very very very lucky to have all 4 chicks considering it was my first time... it was a mail order... and a little giant incubator... and with the temp drop. I really appreciate all the help you all gave me throughout... what an awesome awesome website.

Also, a shout out to Julie at gabbard hatching eggs because obviously she send quality eggs that she carefully packs and that of course made a big difference. I got this type because I have read that they are very very calm and docile and I thought it would be the perfect ones to start with.... they are awesome little critters and very very tiny. Here are the first picture I took of them after putting them in their new home for the next few weeks.... I can't wait to incubate again..... but again the question is should I just quit now with a perfect record?

Thanks for sharing the pics! I definitely think you should incubate more! I suspect you've gotten the bug. How can you resist?

Best of luck to ya!

Your new babies there are living in luxury in that giant bin! They are so cute! I'd love some Barnevelders but the hatcheries won't have them until mid-May! I'll be getting some Nankins this spring, I'll contact the lady who sent you your eggs and hatch them out!

Just think, next time it will be even easier to keep the bator closed! Right? Maybe?
