Thank you! Yours are very pretty, too, Poultry09! I have a handful of commercial Toulouse as well. They're gret geese, too. I do breed American Buffs and take it seriously. It's beginning to pay off in what we've developed. We started with hatchery birds, but were lucky enough to have gotten some very nice ones. Show pictures are about the only ones that seem to come out halfway decently, too, but I am proud of what's been accomplished. Those were all from this past year. NYRIR, I know you'll enjoy them! You're going to have to post some pictures when you get them for us!

I Will! What hatchery did you start with?

Well congrats on how well you are doing with your geese Silver Spring, I might have to get an american buff gander from you for my two females if you Do that? If you do sell adult geese please pm me Silver Spring.

I wouldn't go there. I got a few decent ones, but I got more that had serious problems, especially leg problems, and they all had to be cullled. Madeline, above, was purchased as a day-old last spring from Metzer Farms. The others were not all as good as she is, but Metzer Farms breeds and hatches their goslings right there. You can't expect miracles. Even winning adults can't be guaranteed to produce show quality offspring.

Kathy's birds are beautiful! But here is my sweet little Gerrymander, whom has turned my family into goose lovers.
(with Digory Dog)

(by herself)

I won Gerrymander in a feedstore raffle. The feedstore had ordered 3 American Tufted Buff geese for a client, but, since they weren't tufted the client refused the order and nobody else purchased them. After 4 months or so of feeding the geese, they held a raffle just to get rid of them. My knowledge of geese was non-existent beyond they can be mean and the parks all have some. Such a surprise! The bigger surprise was in learning how personal she is and how she motivates us to get off our duff to walk her down to the creek everyday.
Visitors are amazed by her. I have one friend we do a vehicle check on before she leaves to make sure she hasn't smuggled the goose in it. I'm so hoping she lays an egg soon so we know she is a she. And hopefully we can get her a friend soon. She hangs with the chickens, but, I'm sure she would prefer someone who honks back.
You'll love your american buffs! Do post pictures when you get them!
