Pics of different breeds of pheasants

they are species. If 007Sean didn't explain that clear enough, I don't know it anymore. Just take losing.
Unless I'm wrong, you stated that Jumbo Ringnecks are a cross between two separate SUBspecies of Ring Neck Pheasants, thus making them not only not species or a subspecies, but a crossbred bird that has continually been artificially selected to add to the natural meatiness of the bird, thus making it a meat breed.

No, actually they are species. Yellow Golden: Chrysolophus pictus mut. luteus
Jumbo Ringnecked: Phasianus colchicus/mongolicus
Yellow goldens being a mutation, Jumbo ringneckeds being a cross between the Chinese and Mongolian species, P.c. torquatus and P.c. mongolicus, respectively, of the true pheasants. The jumbos have a higher percentage of mongolian blood, usually around 3/4 to 7/8 mongolian, thus the larger size. Jumbos will have the crown of the head a granite-gray washed with olive and on each side of the crown will have broad white superciliary lines. P.c. mongolicus does not have any superciliary lines.
At any rate, their still considered species. Some may chose to say it's a variant or variety but it's still a species.

You seem to know a lot about pheasants! Good Job!

But last I checked an animal created via a cross breeding of two different subspecies does not fit into either of those species, nor does it fill its own. If a Jumbo Ringneck is a species, then what is the scientific name?

1st the short answer: Phasianus colochicus.
The long answer:
A breed is a specific group of domestic animals having homogeneous appearance (phenotype) homogeneous behavior and/or other characteristics that would distinguish it from other organisims of the same species. Breeds are formed through genetic isolation, natural adaptation to an environment or through selective breeding, or a combination of the two. Despite the centrality of the idea of "breed" to animal husbandry and agriculture, no single, scientifically accepted definition of the term exist for pheasants.
No distinct breeds have been developed yet, they are considered as semi-domesticated.
