do you have free cycle in canada? or how about habitat for humanity.. they sell recycled things either free or at a small fee.. keep your eyes open for things that come along that you can use.. we built and insulated 8x8 with 12x24 run.. cost about 3500. we bought it all new and built it ourselves.. so look for things that are on sale.. you have lots of time.. maybe if they are building in your area go check out the dumpsters for wood. insulation and things like that.. i remember you had the mold issue. your coop is cute but had alot of problems.. gl with your new venture and keep sending pics. we love new projects

Here is my coop, I built it keeping expansion in mind and I have expanded it twice since then. I fit well in it as I am 6'2 and it flows well for me with seperate breeding pens, grow out pens, storage and feed area, brooding areas. It is all covered and has concrete floors all round, it has electric and water is within 10' of the coop, and is very predetor proof. I will be adding some more outdoor runs this spring along with more pens, like I said I can continue to expand to this thing to the earths end if need be LOL. During the cold winters I do add woven celutex to all of the open areas to effectively block the wind and elements, it's not canada but it is toasty in the coop during winter. I also built it very cheaply with left over materials and some new stuff, simple, easy, strong, weatherproof, cheap, user friendly.
