This is my Birthday present. I got it early enough to almost have eggs hatching on my Birthday, which is today. Several are due to hatch in 2 days. I have a total of 64 eggs, different breeds of chickens, quail and bronze turkeys.

This is my old bator that I will now use for a few days until they can go into what I use for a brooder. There are a couple different views. The first is of the outside of the bator. It's very old. The second is of the inside bottom which I have ready for the hatch in 2 days just in case somebody is early. I have the wire mesh bent so it goes over the water dish and the thermostat sitting on the mesh screen. The next one is the lid. I have a smaller mesh screen tied to the inside over the element to keep the chicks from getting burnt. That is what the tooth picks are for on the lid of the outside of it. I used bread ties through the vent holes and tied to the toothpicks on the outside of the lid.

I'm doing it this way becaue I have quial eggs in there too and I don't want them to get damaged. They aer suppose to hatch very soon after the chickens are and a few during. I don't want any masned babies. I'll move the chicks to the brooder and the quail to the old bator with in aobut a weeks time for the next set to hatch. And so on and so on.

Anyway, heres the pics

And this is a still air bator. I'm not sure what the humidity should be for the chicks in the old bator but i'm sure it will go up when I put them in. Along with the temp. I have the temp at around 85 right now. I think.
