I’m glad you enjoyed the cuteness too.

Runt was a bit closer to the camera than her friend, who’s the second smallest one in there. She’s even smaller than our little golden roo. Runt is probably about half the size of the other jumbo hens, with cute, short little legs and a sweet little snub beak. (It does seem like she has a big head for her body.) I wish one of the full sized hens was as mellow so I could do a side-by-side or something.

She hatched out of a big egg, but we quickly noticed she wasn’t growing like the others. She was healthy and active, just tiny in comparison. They’re all 4 months old now — so that’s as big as she’ll get.

I just love that she and Houdini always share nest space and stick together so much. It made me smile that Runt seemed like she was posturing at me a bit, maybe a little protective of her companion.
