Here's my two chicks they are both about 5 weeks old. The first set is Peepers a girl I think. The second set is a cutie that doesn't have a name yet (help?) but a boy I think. I know they are still pretty young but I'm just looking for opinions

Also, does Peepers look miserable to anyone else but me? I don't think "she's" sick "she" eats/sleeps/poops and drinks just fine and throws a fit whenever I pick "her" up. Maybe "she's" just a grumpy pants

"She" is also hard to photograph sorry...

This is Peepers:

I hope so! The second one is getting pretty pink in comparison to Peepers so I'm getting a little worried. But #2 is sooo darn sweet it'd be sad to have to rehome it if it was really a cockerel

I can't keep anyone that isn't a silkie boy unless I get a permit to keep more.

I think you're right that Peepers looks like she isn't completely well. Have you tried worming? Or adding vitamins to their water? I am just making suggestions. I don't know what, if anything, could be wrong, but she just does not look 100%.

She does looks kinda ruffled and sickly doesn't she? She has had medicated feed and plenty of water. I gave them all some feed mixed with some mashed hard boiled egg last night and she scarfed it down. Her demeanor is kinda off I think. She is always very sluggish and sleepy in comparison to the others. When I pick her up or when she goes outside to run around in their playpen she seems to perk up but she worries me. I checked her little bum last night to make sure it was all clear and almost got pooped on lol so she's not blocked up. Her poop isn't runny either. Soo

What sort of worming product or vitamins would you recommend? I new to having my own chickens...

Some people use liquid baby vitamins that you can get at Wal Mart or some similar place. I have some "Rooster Booster" chicken vitamins and electrolytes that I got at the feed store. As far as worming, I'm not sure about that for baby chicks. Maybe you could post her pic in the Emergency / diseases thread. I bet someone would chime in with suggestions there.

I just posted on there for opinions. I feel like a worry wart but she just seems so sedate and sluggish in comparison to the others.
So what did you think, pullets or cockerels?
