Here are some updated pictures. They are two days away from being five weeks old. One of the EW's is now crowing. I caught him. Must be him I was hearing yesterday. Actually I caught him crowing repeatedly. I think he was crowing to tell me to get out of the quail pen.

This first picture shows 7 of the 9. It's missing one of the whites & I haven't taken time to see who else. They really like those fall fake flowers. Someone was throwing them out at work. I snatched them up for my quail babies.

The tally so far:

Manchurians - 1 girl, 1 probable boy (based on color)
Wild / brown - boy (based on color)
EW -- one confirmed boy (crowing); 2 ?

3 others...time will tell

Plus, I can soak them to clean them if needed & if I end up having to throw them away...well, I have some really GAUDY fake flowers in the basement that came free with a pretty wooden box I bought somewhere.
