I'm trying to decide how to cover my run as simply as possible. It's approximately 3'x6'. One side is protected by my house, another side by the approx. 7' tall sturdy metal chicken house (I elevated it on cinder blocks so my chickens could graze under it and will wrap hardware cloth around the open side opposite the run). a 3rd side by a 4' privacy fence which I'll reinforce with hardware cloth. The forth side is the only one I need to build and it'll have a door into the run. I have zero experience building things and I'm having trouble imagining how to add a simple cover. I'd love to see pictures of covered runs with suggestions (-;

Mine's covered but.. it's a re-purposed carport, so probably not a helpful example for your plans.

Do you have a picture of your current setup? It might be easier for everyone to offer suggestions.

We are in the process of building the coop, and then will add the roof over the run.

Here are some pics:

Run is 10' x 50', behind a pole barn. We made it elevated as well - great decision, chickens love the shade. Door is now completed. Working on a small "deck" with human steps up. The chicken door is part of the human door.

We plan to use something like this corrugated roofing to cover the remainder of the run:
