nice job w/ the recycle materials and contacting the school for the help. as was suggected b4 i would consider adding some hardware cloth over the vent area you could just put it on the outside and cover over the chicken wire for extra piece of mind. also i'm not sure of your climate but i would also consider using some silicon or chaulk and seal up any gaps in the siding boards, by the looks of a few pics there may be some gaps. anyway good luck and nice job.

Thank you all for your input. I will be covering the "window" with a sturdier wire, as well as the rest of the inside for better protection. that is just what the student put in it. It does have a door that folds up and locks in place for at night.
I never thought about the caulk being raised. i plan on using shavings about 3 inches deep so not sure if that is considered "deep litter" prob not.
I looked back at the pics and you can't see it but the nestbox does have a ledge in front that is about 3 inches high. As for an extra layer of paint on the top of it, i still have extra linolium would that work?
For the summer i am going to leave the gaps in the wood. come winter i am going to put wood on the inside to wall it up.
I installed the roost today and better get the roof on tomorrow as that is when i am supposed to pick up my hens.
Thank you all for being so awesome!!!!!

I like the hinged board at the top!
I think I will try to incorporate one when I make my coop!

Im still in the planning phase, but gotta get moving quick. I have a huge pile of scrap lumber, pallets, wire, dishpan/litterboxes (thinking nest boxes?) that I have been scavenging and collecting!

Looks good! Congrats!
