I'd put a stuffed animal or feather duster in, like the other poster suggested. It will keep the chick from being too lonely.

Yep. Marbles in the water er, I read it somewhere. I have read so much I can't remember in what place. I have 15 on the way Tuesday. 10 buff orps and 5 black australorps. I put a small fuzzy bear in the brooder and that has stopped most of the peeping. They lay together under the heat lamp. John
