I have finally got the coop started. The coop is a 8' x 12' salt box design. It should be able to house 24 hens. We currently have 8 chicks around 6 weeks old and 4 chicks that are 2 weeks old.
I have really enjoyed the forum, it has given me a lot of advice and suggestions on the design of my coop.
I thought I would share some pictures of our new coop under construction. I will post new pictures as we get more completed.
If you see anything that may need to be changed or have any suggestions or ideas please post.

Walls Put Up
Roofing Started
Nest Box Built
I plan to put a hinged lid on the sloped top. I sloped the top to keep them from roosting on it. I thought if I hinged a top it may be an area for some storage if needed.
This is the inside wall where the roost and nest box will go. I plan to put a sloped ladder roost on the left. I am going to put wire on the bottom of the slope to keep the chickens out from under the roost and to allow the droping to fall through. The framed area will be cut out with a door made to make easier cleaning from under the roost area.
The framed area on the right is where I plan to hang the nest box. I'm going to also make a door there to gather the eggs from the back of the box.
Hopefully tommorrow evening I will be able to post some pictures with the roof completed and the door and window installed.
