i saw a pair of doves, the owner called them "pied doves". i fell in love. i would like to find some eggs for incubation. if i CAN'T find eggs, i might consider buying a pair, but i would prefer eggs.

You need to purchase a pair for breeding. Pigeons are difficult to raise from eggs. Unless you have a broody pair already, you will have a difficult time with the babies. Adult pigeons and doves are not usually very expenxive if you're just looking for the garden variety pet type birds (which is what I have and I love them!). Check out pet shops and feed stores. I actually got my first pair at a flea market.

I second border's post. We hand raised a few pigeons, because they were rejected by their parents. Let me tell you it was alot of work! Feedings every two hours, making sure the feed mash isn't too warm, etc. Thing raising infant babies.

We buy young birds, and raise our own babies, and hand tame them as we want. Good luck on finding your pied doves.
