Pigeon Identification

I used to own tumbler pigeon long time ago. I went to an Auction last Saturday and on an impulse I bought these 2. I was told they are a pair of rock pigeons. I think the one may be, but i'm not sure about the other.

Can anybody tell me what these are. I think the whiter one is a male. he's very vocal and larger in the chest.

I am NO expert. But I think rock pigeon is the name given to the pigeons you see feral in cities and towns and what not. And your two look just like those so I think they both are.



edited to add...I wish I had one of those bird net-guns because by all means I'd be down town netting a small flock to take home HEHE!

They said they are Rocks, but I was looking on the web and didn't see any with the white on them.


My Dh wants to make one of those nets guns. If he does He will be in sooo much trouble

can you imagine what I'll be catching with it

Rocks are the wild pigeons and they come in all colors. Yours could be rocks, maybe rollers.

his problem is he can't find a place to buy the netting. Once he finds a place he will be making them. I need one to catch my guineas(they are so wild)I want to pen them so I can get eggs

Can I allow these 2 to fly free in a few weeks or will I lose them. I was hopeing to let them fly and at dark they will go back to their cage. Can you do that? The Tumblers I owned were inside birds so I never tried to do this?

ETA: these 2 are really tame so I think they were hand raised and not caught out of the wild. I hope anyways.

Yea rock doves are the wild pigeons you see around parks and cities and such .

They come in all color forms due to having feral pet pigeons breeding with them .

They could be either wild or homers !

All us bird people must think alike becasue i have always wanted a net gun as well . Too funny !
