pigeons and doves lifespan

In urban household areas, they live 3 to 4 years. ️

My longest living homing pigeon was 23 years. My current oldest is a 12 year old male, who is still breeding and filling eggs. It's kind of hard to give an average, but if the pigeons are healthy I would say anywhere from 12-15 years. I'm not sure about doves though as I have never raised them for any lengthy period.

My understanding is close to what Old Strain Lover has said. I think folks that care for them well and don't fly them see average life spans around 12 years, with some stretching out to 20 years not being uncommon. I don't say this out of personal experience, but just from talking to people that have been keeping pigeons for a long time. I was surprised myself when I heard this.

I rescued mine so I didn't know

I had a ringneck dove for 16 years. He was rescued so I don't know how old he was when I got him. Sadly, he was killed by our cat, so he still had more years in him. I have heard that 20 is not unusual for doves.
