Cool. Yes I do know about their being bald and all that as I read a book about them. I'm attempting to install two sheep and a Nubian goat in my barn right about now but perhaps I wll get some squabbers in the fall after my broilers all go to freezer camp if you catch my drift.
Could you tell me more about some different breeds and crossbreeds? The Texas Pioneer is awesome because it is autosexing but might be too hard for me to find. White breeds are pretty.

If you want birds just for squab production white utility type kings are hands down the best breed out there for this. They produce more squab that get to a bigger size faster than any other breed. Being white they are also more desirable for sell at market if you want to try and find a buyer for you birds oppose to eating them all your self. I have raised most breeds of meat birds and they are the ones I would recommend above any other.

There is at least one member here that I know of who raises Texans

If I remember correctly, he goes by Yardbird_tx on this forum.

The birds mentioned are the only dependable squabbers I know of. You can mix between those breeds. I'm not sure about Giant Homers though. They are big, but a show breed so I'm not sure how fast they would grow in comparison to the utility breeds.
