We have quite a few squirrels running around our yard, and typically my two girls who are outside (Pigwidgeon and Jolene; the other four are still inside) don't really pay any mind to them. Jolene has recently been chasing around innocent robins, but other than that no encounter with the squirrels.

Until tonight! I'm so glad I was outside watching them free range, because I was able to catch this hilarious moment on video. Sorry in advance for the quality! I have no idea what got into Pigwidgeon that she would go after the squirrel like that :gigI hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Have any of you had your chickens chase after the other critters who hang around?

Pigwidgeon vs squirrel

[Edit: This is my first time posting a video: I hope the link works!!]

Video works just fine.
I have many squirrels on my grounds. My chickens live in harmony with them. They also live in harmony with my feral rescue cats. They run like 7734 , when they see someone walking a dog on a long leash.
Both your squirrel and chicken are safe. My squirrels also eat besides little songbirds, under the bird feeder. The birds are not scared/frightened by their presence.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

How cool that you were able to capture the moment on video! Pigwidgeon appears to be fed up with her "neighbor's" visits; the squirrel is not taking the hint about overstaying its welcome.

Aside from rousting each other away from favorite nest boxes or feed dishes, my chickens don't chase anything. And, they are completely uninterested in a litter of stray cat's kittens that are now old enough to "steal" drinks from the chickens' water dishes.

My previous flock of chickens never bothered any squirrels or kittens around either! First time I’ve seen any chicken go after a squirrel; I have to say it was funny  Maybe since it’s just the two of them out there right now, they need someone else to pick on.
