Anyone have pics? I only have a coop 6x4 for the soace and 1 wall is made of 4 boxes. The other side will have an entrance door. Do the roosts need to be insie or can they be in the run?

I would say it's best to have the roost inside. The coop is used for sleeping (and laying) and chickens roost when they sleep. They need protection from predators and the elements. How many chickens do you have? A 6 x 4 coop is pretty small. If you live in a mild climate and have a secure, covered run, it might work to allow them to roost outside.

Here's a pic of the roost in our coop, it's a 2 x 4 with 4" side up and a poop board below.

The 4 inch wide is needed for most breads of chook. The roost needs to be higher than the nest boxes.
Some breeds such as frizzles and silkies need a ramp. I'll post a pic of mine when I get to the PC again
