Pine mulch in the yard?

I live in Georgia and I can get as much freshly ground pine mulch as I ever want. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used it in the run or as litter? Is it too rough for their little feet or does it need to dry out before I can use it? (I sure hope I can...it's free!)

I've used mulch/wood chips straight from the tree trimming company in my pens and haven't had any problems.
They've piled 'mountains' of wood chips across the lane for me to use (sweet boys).
The stuff I have is really rough cut, no footie problems.

Oh, that's great news! Thank you for replying. My little ones are only 4 days old, but I do want them outside as soon as they can be.
