Pine shavings, DE and compost?

Wasn't sure where to post this so I dropped it here, Any way if I were to use pine shavings and DE in my coop would the DE in the shavings be bad if I were to compost the litter. Can it hinder any natural break down and kill beneficial bugs in my compost?

It may kill off the bugs but shouldn't bother the bacteria that actually "composts" the litter.
I think it would be fine.

I think the only problem you would have is if you had worms in your compost - it may hurt or kill them.. i've heard varying things about the affects of DE on worms.
