Pine Shavings for Bedding

I am hoping someone can confirm that the pine shavings from Tractor Supply are safe for chickens in an enclosed coop at night?

I've been using the same shavings for 5 years.
I only used for chicks in brooder.
My first chicks 5 years ago.

I used straw in coop and nests for a couple of years then switched to shavings in coop and straw in nests for about a year.
Then about 2 years ago switched to just shavings in coop and nests.

I find shavings more absorbent.

Used the TSC pine shavings for awhile just fine before I got my own chipper.

I now use mainly sweet gum because they grow like weeds in my pasture. There is a mix of hardwood from cutting fire wood for my shop thrown in and the pine limb that falls from a storm. The gum battle is never ending.

Hello all, sorry if this has been asked before I am not very familiar with the website. I am hoping someone can confirm that the pine shavings from Tractor Supply are safe for chickens in an enclosed coop at night? I just replaced their old straw bedding with this pine shaving and they seemed scared of it not sure if it was because it was new and different or if they did not like the smell?

I use the exact same ones with no issue. Chickens do not like change, so they'll be grumpy about it for a little while, but they'll be fine.

I use that one. I actually use sand in summer and add that on top for winter to compost in the coop. W grass clippings and leaves too in winter time . Worked great. As long as not cedar it’s good to my knowledge

Do you put the grass clippings and leaves in right after mowing and raking? How does it work for cleaning out the coop?
