I bought pine shavings the other day to get my chicks booder ready for their arrival end of the month. This bag calls the shavings "large." I found another bag of pine shavings at another store that looks smaller and whiter in color. Does it make a difference to their little feet?

I made this very same mistake. It won't hurt the chicks to be on the larger shavings. But they definitely motor around better and snuggle down into the finer stuff better. I'd pick up the bag of the finer shavings and save the larger one for when they grow up and put it in their coop.

I had a feeling that finer was better, at least at this age, so I'm going to pick up that bag of smaller shavings next time in town. Thank you for the reply.

Shouldn't matter on the size. But I usually keep them on paper towels for the first few days. Good luck.
