Pine straw - concerns about racoon poop?

I have plenty of pine straw in my yard and I'd like to use it in the run; but I've seen raccoon poop on it earlier this summer (not everywhere but enough to alert me to the fact that there is some here and there). I know raccoon poop carries roundworm, the eggs of which can survive for years, so I'm scared to use the pine straw. Am I right to be concerned?

Raccoon poo should be put in the garbage, not dumped out anywhere too. Not nice stuff!
