Pine straw in run

Is pine straw a good material to use in a run? I am wondering specifically about bumble foot and pests/parasites. I'm still learning.

First I have huge pens for my birds so I don't use anything. They are each around 20 feet wide by 60 feet long. We have added a couple of more coops since this picture was taken and the trees are much larger.

I have not personally used it for the simple fact it was not what was readily available in the places I have kept flocks. There have been several discussions about it here at BYC send there have been folks who have said they use it either solely or with other organic materiel in their deep litter. You may have some luck finding those previous discussions sand reading through them

Thank you for the information. I always do a forum search before I post and can never find anything. I must be doing something wrong. I can google a question and a lot of times it will show a post from BYC.
