pine tar

Well I have about 6 hens which are pretty bare on their backs. Some now are looking way better. They are pushing out new feathers. Not sure if they were pecking one another. I had posted another thread and most din't think it was any insect problem, but I was using a product to kill lice and such anyhow. On the same post some recommended pine tar. I have watched a number of videos on you tube of folks using it. It apparently deters the other hens from pecking. Stockholm pine tar is one but it is sold out of the UK.

Picking is usually a sign of something, too little protein, lice/mites, too crowded.
And things like too much light.

Pine-tar tastes disgusting, an old timers method of keeping picking from getting dangerous is to smear pine-tar on the affected area.
