pink comb & wattles

What does it mean that our Barred Rocks comb and wattles are pink not red anymore . She seems to be in good shape not sick or anything ? Any ideas ? Thanks ..

The colder months/change in season can cause the color change. Onset of molt, internal/external parasites can cause it as well. I would bet it's the change of season or cold, check her for lice/mites just to be sure.

Is that basically a way to preserve body heat - less blood in the comb means less heat loss?
