I'd had Barred Rocks in the past and thought I knew the color of their eggs. When the first egg from this batch of pullets showed up - it was the light brown color of one from an Australorp . . . or so I thought. But with help here, I narrowed it down to one of the Barred Rocks.
The other Barred Rock pullet began laying (Ive only got 2
) and it took awhile for me to realize that the eggs are pink!! They are a little darker than the first pullet's eggs - maybe I could say that they are a light brownish-pink.
After 4 or 5 more-pink-than-brown eggs, yesterday, her egg was more of a brown than a pink. Okay, I guess that one is actually brown. There are a fair amount of calcium flecks on the end of all her eggs. Should I be concerned about this bird's health?
