Since is has been getting cold here my girls feet are turning pink , especially between the toes. I researched and can not find a definite answer. Im hoping someone here can help me. I am hoping it is not frostbite. They dont seem to care when it is freezing out. They dont seek shelter and just hang out in the cold. What is it? Should I be worried? What should i do?! I will attach a picture so you can see it, dont mind the messy feet as we are all playing in the garden, lol. I appreciate any and all input...

Also, it is a bit more pink than it appears in the picture

...or gray if mild. At least on combs and wattles.
I guess I get so used to seeing slight frostbite living here in Wisconsin that I forget what it looks like, and I only pay attention to the real bad stuff.

Normal. Chickens don't often get frostbite on their feet.

Actually I have a few that have lost toes, and have had one get frostbite up his whole leg, so it does happen at very cold temperatures.

Note I said 'often'. I have several with frostbite damage on toes etcetera but based off the fact that the OP lives in a sufficiently warm climate to still have mud this time of year, I doubt it will ever be an issue. So, I said 'don't often' for brevity.

Thank You 'oldhenlikesdogs'! Can i ask why the change? I am still in the learning stage and when i see a change/something out of the norm/different i like to know the reason for it. Thanks in advance, your response is appreciated ☺...Also, this is their first winter.
Pink between the toes is normal and is considered a sign of a healthy reproductive bird. Frostbite will be black. Pink is just good circulation.

Are you sure it is a change, or did you just notice it? It looks like a normal foot to me, I think the skin is a bit thinner there between the toes, hence the color of the blood shows through a bit more.

Several years ago, I noticed a brighter red stripe going up my roosters legs in the spring... which is a great deal like the sap rising in a tree. Hormonal changes in fertility levels. These birds keep us guessing.

How old is the bird?
