Pinless Peepers?

I have never used the pin less peepers, but I would. I think it is considerably less cruel than being pecked, chased and attacked all the time. I hate that in a flock. One does not need to leave the pin less peepers on for the rest of her life, just till the new hen starts laying and things are peaceful in the flock.

Always solve for peace in the flock. An aggressive bird upsets even the birds not being attacked.

Mrs K, totally agree. Peace in the flock is essential!

I used the Pinless peepers successfully on a bully hen. It was either peepers or the crock pot, she was drawing blood in her attacks. She wore them for a few months and when we removed them, she was no longer a bully but a polite hen. Not saying this would be the case for all….
They do not interfere with eating, drinking, or roosting. They do stop the bird from attacking others.
They are difficult to put on. You don’t need a tool, but it helps to have 2 people. One to hold the chicken, the other to flex the peeper and insert the prongs in the nostrils. The peeper can be softened by soaking in very hot water. The chicken will act disoriented and try to remove it. But, she’ll get completely used to it, don’t give in.

At this point in my chicken journey, I don’t think I’d go thru the tribulation of using them again, though. I’d just rehome the bully. We have a monthly poultry swap, and that’s just what I did with the last mean chickens I had.

So here’s an update. For the past 3 Days I’ve had her out full-time with the rest of the flock. They seem to be excepting her more and more day by day. We still have a mean chicken who goes after her every now and then, but she is getting better. I’m going to use the peepers as a last resort, so if any blood is drawn, then I will put a peeper on Penny. Picture I took this morning of them all together as a Flock. ❤️

I wouldn’t recommend Pinless peepers at all. I used them for three weeks for my chickens and just took them off today. Almost every single hen has damage of some kind whether it’s bruising, swelling or more. I thought they were a good solution and it definitely calmed my flock to help feathers brow back but it’s not worth the damage to my hens. Heart broken over it.

I wonder if you used a different brand or type. I removed mine and neither hen had any damage.

It is very possible! I used the same ones as the ones shared in the photo as well as the larger size to those for some of my birds. I was shocked by the damage they caused. I’m so glad some have had better experiences tho.
