I had two eggs, one successfully hatched last night and one had pipped. But it's been over 24 hours and nothing. The chick inside knocked it face down so I can't see if the membrane is dry or not but I feel like it's been awhile and now it's not moving. Is it time to open and intervene?? I don't want to lose it in the middle of the night ://

The chick just rolled it again and I could see a good chunk exposed and then my chick pecked at it! Does this harm the hatching chick?? I couldn't tell if it was dead or alive cause it rolled so quickly

It happens all the time don't worry. Sometimes they can take up to 48 hours or more to hatch. Whenever a chick pips, it takes a resting period since their lungs are developing from breathing on their own for the first time. Wait another 24 hours and if nothing happens, then you may want to intervene

True what the above comment said. Its best to examine to determine whether it is moving or not because I know the feeling can kill you
