Pips are starting to appear, but some are on the side of the eggs while others are on the large end. Aren't they supposed to be on the large end of the egg?

They should all be closer to the large end than the small, but many will appear in odd locations--side, top, etc. I find it most common for the pips to be about a third of the way down the egg, but closest to the large end. Eventually, the chick will expand the pip and move it down the side so that it can eventually zip a line around the top and pop the lid off.

If they are pipping in or near the small end, then you have a problem. Otherwise, they are probably just fine.
