Pipd's Peeps!

Delphine's littles! :love They were not pleased with me 🤭

And a terrible shot of them with their mama because the fence I used for them is hard to take pictures through. They're so small!! 😍

And a bit of an update on Opal and her little ones, or not so little relative to Delphine's babes. They may not biologically be Opal's chicks, but they sure got their mama's attitude anyway! Look at those faces!! 🤭

And Blue mama's babies... yeah, we're back to Blue mama. 'Ashy' just wasn't clicking for me. I keep coming back to Kya, as in Kyanite (a blue gemstone as I'd set out to name them after in the first place!), but we'll see. 🤔

Anyway, here she is with her babes. I'm like 80% sure she has 3 cockerels and just one pullet in her brood. Two of the three visible here, the ones with their heads down, are ones I'm reasonably sure are cockerels. 😩

Just one other random shot. The birds have areas clear of the trees where they can get sunlight when we have clear skies, but they always end up forming sun bath piles like this in little patches of sunlight in the woods instead 🤭 This is, working back to front, Roha and Tessa, Harriet and Rangi, Sumi and Vega, and Gwenyth.

I just love all of this. ❤️

Poor Rebel, with Cheddar being such a stinker. :barnie Is Rebel able to eat and drink pretty regularly at least? It may just still be spring fever and Cheddar might cool his heels a bit once we're into summer more :fl
He eats. I make sure to scatter feed in the run so that there are options. But, also, he has access to the whole run. He goes to the duck side often too. They let him eat there.
If I could figure out how to utilize the upper area of the run for him, I would. Just don't have ideas and I'd probably have to get someone else involved. But, the way it's set up, he can get to the rafters and back down. Ginger hangs with him sometimes, but she has more liberties in the run.

Haha, Cochins and their broodying! I just had to break several of mine because I'm tapped out on places to put broodies at this point. And then Vivienne, my Black Marans, wanted to brood as well :th
Forgot to mention, I took her out of her broody breaker to go out in the yard with her pals while I was cleaning. I saw her go into one of the nest boxes and thought maybe she is laying an egg, because oddly, I've gotten an egg from her just the other day. Well of course she has the broody attitude - and as I'm picking her up telling her what a silly girl she is sitting in there with no egg - to my surprise she somehow managed to find Ginger's egg that Ginger snuck in and laid while I was doing stuff. :th Then, later I found her in a different nest box where my EE decided to sneak in and lay an egg. I checked all nest boxes before I let her out. What a sneaky bunch I have! 🤭

On the OEGBs. It's only two of them now the third got through the issues on its own. The other two tho aren't showing much improvement. Only their vigor is up. Neither can stand on their own yet.

Trying what I can with what I have. I think I might have that somewhere. Thing is with work I can't be there to baby them. If they don't improve enough by Wednesday or expire by then I'll have to manually do it. :hmm

I don't like it but it maybe what's best. The Sebrights that had this issue where ok by about two to two and a half days later. Basically by the end of the Halloween hatch. These guys aren't showing that at all.

:hugshope they perk up soon.

As long as he has options to eat and drink, he should be okay while you figure things out. :fl I wouldn't know how to approach that, either, and like you I'd almost have to have someone else either help or hire someone to just do it themselves. These birds can really drive you crazy with their shenanigans :barnie

Oh, she's got it bad 🤭 Sounds like your other girls are conspiring to keep her broody, too, the naughty gals!

@pipdzipdnreadytogo - I was just going through old posts trying to remember which of my hens had prolapsed since I was answering a question for someone else. And, I found your soap posts. Are you still doing that?

Ugh, I still have all the supplies and everything, I just haven't been able to in a long time! I keep thinking I'd really like to make another batch, especially since I'm almost out of that lovely vanilla cocoa batch I made, but then something comes up every time. The latest has been the work surface I use for soaping being covered in everyone else's stuff like it's their personal storage space or something, so I don't have anywhere to actually do any soaping. :barnie It's been pretty frustrating! But, that's living with family.

:hugs :hugs Hopefully they manage to pull out of it so you aren't burdened with that task. If they don't improve despite what help you're able to give them, though, then you're right and it's likely for the best. :hugs

Yeah, well she's going to stay in her broody breaker all day. Maybe this cool weather will help. :fl

My family irritates me and it's just myself and my husband. :gig The vanilla cocoa sounds devine. Hope you are able to get back to making soap when you can.
