Pipd's Peeps!

No the OEGB are in a stilled outdoor brooder that took no damage thankfully.

Thank goodness for that at least!

Yup! Or at least, that's my theory. Can't think of another reason both Cruella and Lady Gaga would think it's a good spot to brood

Seems like Juni is more respectful than Ursula. Ursula looooves to peck everyone. I seriously think something might be wrong with her mental development. She does a lot of behaviours that I wouldn't expect to see from a bird her age

Crazy bird! I've had hens like that as well, just kind of weird for their age. Roha, for example. 🤭 As long as they aren't being too harmful to everyone else, I let them be.

I did have a hen years ago who was absolutely evil to everyone, though, so she had to go for sure. The last straw was when she decided to try to murder the Sebright bantams I had at the time out of nowhere. :barnie

Come to find out the winds where hitting 90+. I will be beating my self up got not moving them into the garage.

I definitely understand the feeling, but I agree with Crazy Maizie, try not to be too hard on yourself. You did what you thought was right with the facts you had at the time. :hugs It's a hard lesson, but you'll be better prepared for next time.

What a nasty, dreary, rainy day here. :barnie Day 30's picture of the day is Opal and her babies, staying up on the deck where it's dry.

That fence is just a little space I left closed off for the little ones to get away from the adults, but it has a gap in one side that they and their mamas can fit through to come and go. Opal isn't really mama-ing anymore, but she does let her babies stay close to her and eat with her, and she shoos off Kya's babies (visible in the background) if they get too close. :idunno

For runners up, we have one of the little cockerels peeking out of their box while waiting for me to set up their pen and let them out for the day. :love

And this is an awful picture because it's pretty dark in the coop and she wouldn't let me get any closer, but it made me laugh anyway. I think Harriet is fed up with this weather. 🤭

@pipdzipdnreadytogo just a question. I know you live near (in) the woods. You have lots of pens. Are they all covered to protect from predators? I'm just trying to figure out some system where mine could free range and not be confined all of the time. I've been contemplating a chicken tractor or electric barrier fence that I could move. But, the fencing wouldn't prevent hawks and such. With the tractor, I'd have to divide up birds for them to be able to enjoy their outing.

I wormed my chickens and ZuZu has perked up. Rebel is back to acting more normal (I guess only part of his behavior was from Cheddar). One of my other hens in a different coop expelled round worms after the first dose. Whichever one did that, didn't even act off. So, looking into options where they could be out w/o me hovering to help keep them healthier. Plus, I might be able to keep both my roosters if I can give them more free time. My area is very open with either empty fields or corn & beans all around - so that makes it open to all sorts of predators. Right now the corn is up next to my run, so the birds aren't allowed out much. Fox use the corn to travel back and forth to their den. I've had fox take my ducks a few years back, so I try not to have them out too much once the corn is up.

Sending lots of virtual hugs to you :hugs :hugs :hugs How are the survivors doing this morning?
Great everyone is out free-rangeing today like yesterday even the saved babies. Those are going up with my lavender Ameraucanas now. Got the tarp back over the bantams pen just not tied down yet. Cleaned out the saturated feeders and just put food out on the ground for them this morning.

I am so thankful my flocks all get along. Even the roosters that stay separated with their respective flocks don't do more than play fight. They also seam much more accepting of new grow outs. 🥰

Had some dummies stay in the trees last night tho. Was not happy with them, but they were well hidden and no losses.

I have open areas like that and while there are hawks my roosters have been very good about getting everyone under cover when there's even a hint of hawk like activity. We have lost of Texas whistling ducks and the roos call the flock to cover when the fly through. Even when the plains come over head. We have a rual air port just to the south of us.

Mine just have to be up at night because of the coons.
