Pipd's Peeps!

Awe. She has had a wonderfully long life. ❤
I was just thinking that I should check up on you since I had not heard from you lately. :hugs

Also, I saw that you can make soap with eggs - have you ever tried that?

She definitely did. She's gone now, as expected, not long after my post. She was a grand old dame, always walking around with an air of excellence. All of the Wyandottes seemed to have that about them, like they were rich old ladies wearing their best gowns out. Raven was the last of the Wyandottes in my flock, and the lack of her grand presence is certainly felt out there.

Yes, indeed! All of the soap I've made is egg soap other than the very first batch I put together as a test run of the steps. 🙂 I'm not sure that the egg adds much other than a yellowish tinge to the soap and maybe some proteins that are good for the skin. I have noticed that my skin feels a little softer using the egg soap as compared to the plain soap in that first batch, but it's a pretty subtle difference and both of them are much milder on the skin compared to most commercial soaps anyway. Either way, it uses up some of the plethora of eggs I get every day, so it works for me! :p

Speaking of soap, I just resupplied on oils so I'll have to put a batch together pretty soon! My vanilla swirl soap did what I was afraid it would do and eventually all turned dark brown, whoops! So it looks like vanilla is just going to be a dark brown soap bar. I grabbed a couple small tubs of skin-safe pigment powders to try out on some other fragrances instead, so hopefully I can make a pretty swirl that actually lasts with them. :fl

If you ever do want to try it out, let me know! I can give you some step by step guidance, and I can also send you some links to a good starter recipe, some instructional videos, places to get the oils and other supplies, etc. 😁 It's a lot of fun, but it does require a bit of investment to get all the supplies around. When I was getting ready to start soaping, I made a list of the absolute bare minimum required supplies that I can also send your way. There are a lot of things people say you need, but in truth they're just nice to have and not really required for soap making, like having an actual soap mold versus just lining a small box with parchment or freezer paper and using it.

Yes! I meant to reply earlier, but had to go to work. 😕
Do you want my email? Or can you just pm the info? Let me know. It sounds like something fun to do. I keep telling my husband that I need some goats to make goat soap. 😂 But, I could try egg soap first. 😁

I'll send a PM your way - just a warning, it is LOOOOONG :th It is pretty fun, and it's so satisfying ending up with a usable product, especially if it works well. :love I haven't tried soaping with goat milk, but that sounds like fun to me! Guess you do need some goats! 🤣

Somewhat chicken-related (well, it used eggs 🤣 ), I made cookies yesterday. 😊 My mom and I decided to put together an advent calendar of sorts for my niece and nephew this year, and yesterday was cookie day for the calendar.

I made the mistake of only making a small batch of these hot cocoa blossoms because they are GONE ALREADY 😩 The kisses in them were hot cocoa kisses, so they had a marshmallow cream center. 😍

I also made shortbread because it's one of my favorite cookies, and I tried to make it Christmassy but it ended up being watermelony instead. 🤣 🍉

It's a crazy, windy day here, so a good one just to stay inside and munch cookies, I guess. The birds are all hiding in their coops from the insane wind, so I made sure to give them plenty of food and water where they don't have to go out in it. ❤️ Wish the weather would decide what it's doing already! I think I preferred the freezing temps to this!

They were! I have just a hand full of shortbread cookies I held back that I'm hoping to enjoy later with a glass of milk... or maybe with some hot cocoa instead :drool Lesson learned, though--always make the full batch, not partial batches, when it comes to cookies! :p

Yeah, I can relate on just not feeling it. I'm not big on Christmas in general, but if desserts are involved then you have my undivided attention. 🤣 Seriously, though, my niece and nephew still love the holiday so I do try my best to make it fun for them. ❤️
