I'm still half heartedly trying to come up with a plan that would allow me to hatch out one more set of eggs in a few months. I'm just not sure though. Space and the feed bill are solidly weighing down the pro/con scales and saying I shouldn't

I'm glad that Judy Booty egg is still doing well!

You can check with your Ag department and see if you can sell meat raised by you and processed by someone else. I think ours says they have to be raised and processed on-site though. But if they were processed by an approved company, maybe?

I think we could use maybe 2 chickens per month, maybe. So I guess in reality, if no one wants any, we'll be eating really well for the next year the stew hens do make great soup, I haven't had any younger birds yet, so those mean little boys are looking quite intriguing. I'm still working on mind over matter on eating my own chickens, but every time one was pulling feathers from my precious pullets... lol, tonight one bit me so I scooped him up and told him I just might bite him back, with BBQ sauce, after a nice slow roast in a toasty place

May I suggest that they could be used for pet food as well.

I'm almost done hatching. One last batch that are the blue golden duckwing OEGB then I'm done untill maybe setting a very limited number for Halloween. Hopefully we will get some sold in a few weeks. But I've got to get my partially done pen done this coming weekend. Two that are 9ft by 18ft, two 8ft by 8ft, and another 2 or 3 eight foot by 12ft hoopcoops. I should have room for growing out what I want to six months or a year old.

Planning on posting Reaper and his two girls for sale this weekend along with the extras from the Dusty eggs that aren't going to be keepers.

I thought of pet food, our cats would be SUPER happy, but our dog doesn't tolerate chicken. Still, it seems we will have enough to share our housecat loves to hang I the kitchen with me when I'm cooking meat his adorableness always wins him a taste.

I think if have any excess cockerels that I can't even give away I'll be going the pet food route. Most of my birds are egg birds and not dual purpose at the moment. The exception are the Ameraucana.

Funny. I tell my oegb rooster that I could eat him in 2 bites when he nips at me. Sometimes he's too big for his britches depending on his mood. But, most times he behaves, so I let him live another day.

You could likely make some great broth for yourself and then pet food the rest.

I have a 15 wk old bantam cockerel, he's never been aggressive to me, but he sure thinks he's 10ft tall and bullet proof, he's always trying to pick fights with the layer hens through their run if I let the growouts loose. He'll scramble 2 to 3 feet up the fence, parade back and forth, he's a mess I don't think he even weighs a pound yet, those girls would squash him by sitting on him.
