Pipd's Peeps!

I see what you did there. 😂

What can I say, they truly are a bunch of dorks ;)

She sure did have something to say. 🥰

She did! I love those Cochin bawk-bawks so much 🥰

I talk back to them when they get chatty. I also talk to the cats when they are chatty. They all talk back but it's unknown what they said. Also the quiet ones once they found out I talk back now talk more. 🤣

Oh my goodness, how funny! I'm constantly talking to my animals, too! My chickens tend to bawk-bawk back, at least a lot of them do, and anyone who walks by probably thinks I'm a loon holding a full conversation with them 🤭 My cat is so quiet, though, the most I usually get out of him is his little 'mrr?' sound or some purring :love

Phew, what a long day! I feel pretty wiped from a lot of running around trying to locate rooms and reacquaint myself with the campus. Feels good to be home, but of course now all I want to do is go to bed, and then tomorrow starts round 2
:th
But I think my anxiety about being back in school is subsiding at least. We'll see at the end of the week if that lasts!

Anyway, checking in with my picture of the day number 77! I got the side-eye from Rowena after free-range had to be delayed a few hours for my class today

Runner up of Janice bawk-bawking at me, too 🥰

Ooooh, they are so pretty! :love I love the lacing on the one!

Checking in after day 2! I actually got home hours ago, but then decided to tackle some homework to keep ahead of things and, well, hours later and wayyyy more than I really meant to do all at once, I think I'm done for a while on that.

Anyway, here's the picture of the day number 78! Delphine peeking out the pop door to complain that I still hadn't closed up the coop and gotten everyone set up for the night.

As a runner up, here's a certain goofy naked neck who decided to investigate this old barrel planter. I guess she fancies herself... an eggplant 🤭

Thank you! They both have the laceing. One is gold and one is Silver or probably S/s+.

Hey y'all! Sorry for the silence over here the last couple days! I can't really say I got busy with the semester already (though I do have a bit to get done over the weekend--no crunch or anything, I just want to keep ahead of things), but I was kindly given the nasty cold that my niece brought home from her school so I've been battling that on top of trying not to miss any classes since it's only the first week and all. :th

Not a whole lot going on in the land of the chickens. However, we did lose Crash duck on Wednesday to what I can only describe as a freak accident. I had been putting her under the top half of a bird cage in the coop overnight to keep her safe from the hens until morning. Well, Wednesday night she tried to slip out from under it when I put it over her and had gotten her head and neck out from under it, so I had put my hand on it just to keep her from slipping out any further. She then backed up suddenly and, before I could even pull my hand away or anything, she was seizing. I keep playing it over in my head, did I push down too hard? I didn't think I was pushing much if at all... Could I have reacted faster to prevent this? I don't know... But, she was pretty old, 9 years old as of May, so who knows, maybe it was just her time. 🙁

So that's rather the end of an era for my little farm. I no longer have any other poultry except the chickens here. I did not exactly enjoy the care required on either venture I took outside of the chickens, so most likely Crash will be the last of any other poultry I keep here, at least for a long, long time.

Anyway, I don't have any classes on Fridays until the second half of the semester, so I spent some extra time out there this morning and took a few extra pictures as tax for missing the last couple days. 🙂 Just give me a few to get those uploaded!

Picture of the day number 79! I think I'm giving it to Coco for another of her dramatic close-ups 🤭

And lots of runner ups today. Amaretto goes from 'sweet little mixed hen' to 'the face of evil' with just a turn of her head 🤣 She is not at all the wicked bird that second picture makes her appear to be, for the record!

Three darling little pullets, yet to be named:

Almost the same exact face from both Ivy and Opal. That camera lens is just so tantalizingly shiny, you know... 🤭

Pete, giving off saintly innocent vibes 🤭

Vivienne did not wish to be disturbed during her breakfast!

And lastly, sweet Nora. :love I wonder if she'll ever grow those feathers back on her head?

Seams like a freak accident and not much could have been done to prevent it.☹️ Sorry you lost her.
