pipe bomb at the school this morning

And parents can't discipline like they need! I didn't say abuse, I didn't say beat. A good spanking kept me on the strait and narrow, with good manners. A real live contributing member of society. My entitled opinion.

Had a guy take my class hostage with his dad's glock my Senior year. My theory? Dad really wasn't paying attention and as far as I could tell his mom wasn't really part of the picture. Duel custidy but Mom only wanted him/got him on holidays. Anycase, he was later diagnosed bipolar to boot. His dad just thought he was 'moody'.

No one was hurt, btw. I was more worried he was going to shoot himself in front of us than actually shoot any of us. Never pointed the gun at anyone and when he couldn't take one of the girls crying or figure out what to do from there, he let us all go. It was just one HUGE scream for help.

Parents just need to start paying attention to and actually RAISING their kids, instead of relying on the public school system.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

Hmmm? Let's think. What is wrong with kids?

Their families are under terrible stress and either overworked, or not working at all.
Their environment is a mess.
Their government is a mess.
Their economy is a mess. (Don't kid yourself that they don't know that!)
Their religions even have scandals.

The media offers them sex and drugs as a panacea for all of the above.

What do they see succeed? Greed and corruption.
What do they see fail? Hard work and honesty.

The ones I talk to sound old and tired by high school. They are out of heroes and out of hope.

The question is: what are we going to do about it?

What is wrong with kids?? The ones I talk to are running out of hope. They have long run out of heroes.

You forgot to add relentless bullying.....

And I am still waiting for my bailout!!!!!! I have been paying my bills this whole time!!! So where is my reward!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, just a quick vent there....

You know how we all talk about lindsey lohan and brittney spears and how they had missing or overly greedy parents and how they grew up in public????

Today, ALL of our kids (and I mean this country's) are Lilo and Britt. Every pimple, every mistake and every mood swing, every bad judgement and every single embarrassing moment is broadcast by their frenemies far and wide.

They are relentlessly ridiculed and pressured. Now they must be entertaining or others will entertain themselves at their expense.

And it all lives on in cyberspace forever. Can any of you think of a teen moment that you are SO glad no one knows about or that you haven't had to be reminded of for years?? They can't say that.

I meet kids who have two well to do parents who have no idea where their child is actually living. Kids with every electronic known to man who spend an average of ten minutes a day in the same room as their parents.

So what's wrong with our kids today?? Their Parents.
