Are pen is completely enclosed and the coop where all thirteen chickens go is inside our garage( which is also enclosed), last night went to bed thinking that when I woke up there will be a cute baby bantam chick waiting to be loved by me, but when I went into the garage to see the new bird it was completely gone. There was no sign of another bird killing it, no egg, no blood, the hen was fine, no sign of the chick just vanished. What could of happened!

Rats maybe?

Could have been one of the chickens tho, even the broody herself,
could have eaten everything shell and all.

Has this broody ever hatched before?

Sometimes they freak out and eat the chicks as the hatch,
not too common, but not unprecedented either.

I'd keep a very close eye on things.
