Piped Last night, 24 hours later still trying to get out. Help

There are many schools of thought on this, but it appears to me that it can't rotate in the shell to zip, I would wait a while longer then intervene.

i did not go to mentioned link page..maybe it has this information ?? when & if you decide it actually needs help do not remove shell completely.. the chick needs to strech its legs & neck to straighten its body out of position it has been in((curled up )) normally i hold egg in a wet verywarm wash cloth to keep it moistened & with tweesers chip & remove shell & menmrame..leaving some in tacked. put back into bator ,normally chick will finish pushing shell off, if you remove it completely..chicks neck will be curled & leg problems. good luck...BTW..i would wait for maybe another few hours..it might still be absorbing yolk..if you notice it is less active then help i guess...

This is going to be your tough call. Two hours is not that long. I would let it go a while longer. I usually decide if a chick has not made any progress in 24 hours, then I help. Some folks don't. That's why you have to do what you think is best. Good luck, hopefully this will all be a mute point in a little while.

When I first started hatching I helped everything out. Now I won't. Too many times I had my heartbroken after helping a little guy out. I leave nature to it now.

Day 18 is really early, I haven't heard of that happening before. Were your temps high?

The temps were not high that i know of.. Its a still air , so my temp was 100-101 on top of the eggs.
I know the temp was high up near the top of the bator so im not sure how that would affect it. He actually
pipped on day 17 1/2 , my only guess is that a hen layed on this egg for a day or something. But i took the egg from the nest
and she was not around. There are 9 more eggs in there, 6 bantams and 3 Java. This egg is a Java
