piping? Peeping?

OK, so I'm new to the whole hatching thing and have seven eggs incubating right now. They SHOULD hatch the 11th, if all goes well. Here is my "newbie" question. What is piping, and what is peeping?

Pipping is when an egg starts to crack and peeping is the sound that a chick makes.

Peeping or chirping is the sound made by chicks. You can sometimes hear them before they hatch.

Pip is the first indentation in the egg, made by the chick preparing to hatch.
Zip is the next step. The chick will make like a zipper, all around the egg, to hatch!

Thanks ya'll! I knew "peeping "is the sound they make, but I was assuming it was also the name of part of the hatching process. It makes sense now.
