Pipped wrong end...

And watch it! I have now had 3 wrong end pippers. Some need help and others just zip on out by themselves! Patience is key! Have your read Sally Sunshines article on assists just in case you need to help it? Here is my recent assist with pics on it. Maybe you can find it helpful later on. It was a 36 hour ordeal... https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/756522/first-one-wrong-end
Haha I just realized that you are the same backwards pipper on the shipped eggs thread, sorry to repeat myself.

Yes, I have read it. I have already assisted one chick today :)

The only thing is, I have NO idea when this chick pipped...it could have been yesterday or this morning, I never checked it until a little while ago.

How many chicks have already hatched? That might help give you a timeline. Also your assist today was at the top of the shell right? This one would be similar but with out the safety of the air cell, from what I remember. Do you hear chirping or can you see it's beak breathing?

5 out so far...2 zipping, 4 pipped including the upside down...2 more doing nothing...

The one I assisted was up the right way, he got stuck in his original pip hole for 24 hours...so I zipped for him.

I do see him moving a bit, just a little, and I do not see the beak, just some wet fluff...

If it was me I would wait until the morning and see how it's doing. If some are still in pip stage it might still be able to do it on its own. Keep us posted though! I hope you see some zip progress in the morning.

No zip progress on two eggs that had pipped yesterday morning...I'm pretty sure the wrong end pip was yesterday morning. These both look shrink wrapped, one I just zipped myself, the wrong end pip I zip a little to check for life and it's barely breathing...it "could" be resting, so if I see nothing from it by late afternoon I will open it and cull it, same with the other one. I have two more eggs that have not pipped, but they did internally pip and I "think" they died after internal pip...I'll give them til tonight, it'll be day 24 after 8pm. I have 7 chicks in the brooder now and 1 still in the bator.
