It's day 17 and still no signs of movement or pipping, when should this start?

Sometimes they take a longer time, I am hatching ducklings right now and one has not internally pipped and its the due date. I'm sure it will happen soon 😊
 
Yes thank you. I did a bit more reading and found that day 1 is actually day 0 so it's still day 16. (I think)
 
Good! I wasn't sure if my post was helpful because I've never hatched (or had) Quails before

Its actually my first time hatching ducklings!
 
When I get home I'll see what they're like as I was away all day and then I'll probably candle 1.

It depends. If your incubator temperature was a bit low, they will be late hatching. If the temperature was a bit high, then they would have already started to hatch.

if you don't see pips by tomorrow, i would start candling, but as long as there are signs of life, they can hatch as late as day 20 or 21.
 
How will I tell if they're alive as the egg is fully dark except the air cell
